What is a waggies growthrate compared to a fortunei and what nighttime temperatures are we looking at to get some noticeable growth.I have one waggy 35cm of trunk 2 spears just slowly grown but take forever to open.if they do grow ultra slow I may buy a big one.

They need about 10C to start growing, don't know about nighttime temperatures. They are said to be slower than fortunei but if given proper care they can grow fast enough. Initially they are slow indeed. I only have a waggy and it put out 10 leaves last year. It stopped growing during the hottest days, so it could have been more. When I planted it in 2012, it only made about 4-5 leaves.

I think that the comments by Flow is a good summary of T. wagnerianus performance. These are great palms in windy seaside sites.

They are slower for me from seed. Takes 4 years to attain the same size as a 3 year old fortunei.

They are smaller in stature and are probably slower because of

this...dont know what temps you had but they really enjoy lots

of water in summer/when its hot.

They do seem to handle the heat ok but because of their

stiff leaves they can get burn spots where the leave is flat to the sun.
