Found one for sale at a hardscape place that sells some plants. Their plants normally seem overpriced and look pretty bad but one of the three they had looked really good. I know these can be pretty pricey because they grow so slow. It was 15g and about 36" tall with a good amount of trunk for $170. Does this seem reasonable???  Thanks for the advice!

No too bad due to slow growth rate. You can probably get them cheaper in S. Florida but you will burn that in gas.

Thanks Jason! I was hoping someone in CFL would chime in. Do you have one? Wondering how much tip burn it would get with our salt and wind.

I have two very small ones. I think they were about $35 for small 1 gallons. I have had them for about 3 months and they are growing fine although 3 months isn't a long test. I am closer to banana river than the ocean, although I do get salt settlement. I will keep my eyes on them to see how they perform. I know Charlene has one I think also in Satellite Beach. She goes by naturegirl on Palmtalk. Maybe IM her to get her input. She is very knowledgeable about all things Coccothrinax in Satellite Beach.

Thanks again. I'm on the banana and have an elevated spot about 50 ft from the mangrove line I was thinking about planting it.

Sent you a pm! But basically no concerns with brown tipping from salt. I get very windy and salty conditions here without rain and have never had brown tips,  these palms are naturally made for this. My concern is the possible 'wet feet' in low lying areas with salt water inundation. But it sounds like you are up high enough from the river.

Good luck, I love Coccothrinax!

Here is the purchase. I'll update some photos when I get it in the ground in a month or so. Thanks again for the advice!

They do fine in Brownsville, and we have fairly salty air (although not likely as salty as yours) Our ground water is also very salty. BTW, out of the 20 or so species of coccothrinax that I have, crinita is definitely one of the faster ones.

Oddly enough after walking around Lowes I saw 3 Coccothrinax crinita for sale and one is a little bigger than the one I purchased. Maybe it wasn't as big a find as I thought or...maybe mine is just calling out for an old man brother.
