Palms around my Work Precinct

Took the digicam out on my lunchtime walk today. The weather was perfect..29C with no clouds and no humidity.

There are quite a few palms growing within 100 metres of my office. They seem to be growing OK despite little or no rain this year. Here are some of them...

Great images Daryl.  I can't help notice how crisp and blue the sky looks.  Thanks for sharing these.

No one cares about your current yard temperature 🙃

Thanks for the pictures Daryl.  I agree with Ray the sky looks very blue.  The combination of palms and buidlings are great.

Daryl - Beautiful stuff. It makes going to work nice when there's palms there to greet you :D

The second picture at the top - I love it when they're jammed in there like that. Gives a real lush look.

Your city has a nice clean and attractive skyline. Very nice :)

Thanks for sharing!

Ray and Don, that's our lovely Queensland sunshine coming into winter. In summer there are (usually) too many clouds, plus you get the humidity haze which takes out all of the 'blue'. The dry atmosphere lately has provided us with these lovely skies...the weather is not so good for our gardens, but us humans are loving it!

We are also fortunate to have no heavy industry close by so the air pollution levels are relatively low here.

Paul, the one hing we need here are qualified medical staff of all skills. Our government is always trying to entice qualified people here...seriously!

It is great being able to escape my work pressuers at lunchtime and go for a walk amongst palms and nice gardens. There are many others growing in addition to these, plus there are suburban gardens a block or two away that are loaded with palms as well. One of the reasons I moved here years ago was because this is a 'palmy' city!

Thanks for the comments Dave...I really should update my website...I haven't touched it in a few years, apart from last year's garden update.

The skyline in the background isn't Brisbane..we are 80 kilometres further south. The buildings are all next to the beach and that particular part of our city is called Surfers Paradise, which is the tourist centre here.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Thanks for the picture tour Daryl. A trip to SE QLD in 2001 is what got me wanting to fill my garden with palms and tropicality. For a totally Cocos deprived guy, your Cocos pictures were especially impressive for me.

I'm doing the Brissie- Cooktown drive again at the end of July so I'll get my coconut fix then. I can't wait.
