I was looking out the office window the other day and started admiring the structure of palm trunks on two species I have grown. That gave me an idea: most palms have a distinctive trunk architecture but I seldom see that trait discussed or even noticed. So I took photos of the trunks of a number of my palms and am posting the first 10 here. Can you determine palm genus for each? Additional kudos if you can ID the species. Let's go.

I'm surprised by #8, after Kostas posts Chambeyronia macrocarpa I thought for sure he was correct.

There is some faint tomentum/patterning to be seen on #8's trunk, which would indicate K. oliviformis. Chambeyronia lack that. My bad.
