Townsville Palmetum

Featured Replies

So yesterday the family and I went for a drive to Townsville to pick up a cat from the RSPCA . I managed to get a very quick trip around the Palmetum . The best part is fenced off due to a large colony of flying foxes , so at considerable danger to my health and safety,  over   I went to see what was hiding in the jungle. Here's a nice cabXlepto at the entrance .

Great pics Richie, can't believe the growth since we were there 14 months ago, such a shame to hear the other section is still closed off due to flying foxes

Last pic before my sons I-pad ran out of battery Heterospathe elata . It is a real shame this area has been fenced off to the public , I hope they can move the flying foxes on so we can enjoy this in years to come. Hope you all enjoyed my hour running around the Palmetum , jumping fences an dodging bat poo .

Nice photos Richie. I hope they move the flying foxes along before they destroy the garden in the same fashion as the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney.

Gold Coast, Queensland Latitude 28S. Mild, Humid Subtropical climate. Rainfall - not consistent enough!

Cool pics richie. I was there a few weeks ago but couldnt muster up the courage to sneak through. Its pretty disappointing considering its been that way for 18months or so. Move them on i say!

Yes, I definitely enjoyed it!

Rainforest like pictures offer a lot of details to be checked out, you discover always something

new when looking at them again.

Thank you very much for sharing!

best regards
