My family and I are making our first trip down to Fairchild and wondered if any locals had some suggestions about safe, affordable lodging that's within a reasonable distance from the garden. We are coming down from Melbourne and normally we could make the 6.5-7 hour roundtrip, but with a 7 month old, it's not going to happen.

So excited to make this trip, going to be epic.

Affordable is a relative term, but we stayed at the Courtyard Miami Coconut Grove.   Couple hundred a night, but at this time of the season that is cheap.  Coral Gables location also a possibility.

Airbnb might be worth considering.

I've stayed at the Quality Inn at the Falls on Dixie Hwy a few times.  Nothing exciting but relatively clean and just a short drive to Fairchild and with a Publix grocery next door.  +/-$110 night.  Also for quick, affordable, tasty and healthy food check out Lime Fresh Grill for fish tacos/mexican in the the Dadeland Mall area along Dixie.  Getting hungry right now thinking about it from a few thousand miles away.  Food at Fairchild cafe is quality too but a little more money.

The Hampton Inn in Brickell is nice. I would say it is the most reasonably priced hotel downtown. Close to restaurants in Mary Brickell Village.

Thanks again for all the tips. We made the trip over the weekend. Stayed at the Hampton Inn Dadeland which was about a 15 minute drive to the garden. Perfect weather, partly sunny and 74 degrees!

Awesome.   Glad it worked out, and I know you were impressed by Fairchild.   What a garden!
