This photo is from six years ago.  The palm no longer displays this intense color.  I have three plants and they are all becoming less colorful as they grow larger.  I will try to post a current image in the next few days.

Your palm is just spectacular.  I imagine that these have been tried down here, but I have a feeling that they do better in your cooler nights - like your Ceroxylon, which is equally spectacular, and the envy of So. Cal growers.

But, if I was to come across one, I'd definitely consider giving it  shot.  I'm smitten.

I planted out a huge 5 gal 3 yrs ago and it dried up with the first santa ana we had that year.

Darolds does so well because of the humidity factor and moist air

Haven't you installed the creek?  You really need a creek.  And a small waterfall if possible.  And a moat - to safeguard the palms.

Here are two images made yesterday, February 15th.  The palms no longer show the intense color as when they were juveniles,  the color begins to lessen when the palms have about 1 meter of true trunk.  I visited the habitat location in far south Ecuador in November of 2014.  The wild palms also have the less colorful leafbases.

Sorry about the long delay in posting the new images !

Still a very nice palm that I wish I had. Thanks for the photos!

I have at least four Genonoma species, but all small still.
