Hi Angel,

I like to use a couple of organic (one is 100% organic and the other is about 85-90% organic) foliar sprays.  The 100% organic one is MicroLife Ocean Harvest 4-2-3 from a company in Houston called San Jacinto Environmental.  I have had really good results with it, and it is nicknamed Lazarus Juice because it can bring back nearly dead plants to a healthy vibrant condition.  The other one I like to use is Medina Hasta Gro Lawn 12-4-8.  I mix the first one as 2 ounces per gallon, and the other one as 1 ounce per gallon and put them in a small hand held sprayer, and use them on all my plants.  The Medina Hasta Gro Lawn 12-4-8 is really good in the winter to give my Coconut Palms that Potassium  they need since here on the South Texas Coast, in the Rio Grande Valley and Central Florida, they develop a Potassium deficiency when the weather is cool, which causes them to get brown spots that can spread all the way down the leaf.  I don't know if you can get these products in Puerto Rico, but I think they are great and both are made in Texas.  I think the Medina is made in Hondo, Texas, west of San Antonio.

Hi John, thanks for your input. I only found in a virtual store the Hasta Grow but 6-12-6.

What do you think about this one?

Southern AG

CONTAINS: 2.5% Manganese, 1.5% Magnesium, and 1.0% Iron.

RATE: 1 - 2 tbs. per gallon.

APPLICATION: Apply as a thorough cover spray to run off. Try to spray directly into heart.

Hey Angel,

It's pretty good, but is more intended for flowers and fruit and vegetable production, rather than palm growth.  Palms need a fertilizer that is higher in Nitrogen, then higher in Potassium, with Phosphorus being the lowest number for palms.  Most palms have plenty of available Phosphorus, so that is why the best fertilizers for palms have lower concentrations of this than the Nitrogen and Potassium.  Like I said above, Potassium is really important for those of us growing cold sensitive tropical palms in marginal climates and at their northern most limits, like me growing my Coconut Palms here in Corpus Christi, since they develop a moderate to severe Potassium deficiency in the winter time, when they have a hard time absorbing available Potassium from the soil.  The mircronutrients of Manganese, Magnesium, and Iron are good in the fertilizer you mentioned, but the MicroLife Ocean Harvest, I think has almost a 100 micronutrients and minerals, just like their granular slow release fertilizers do, which cover the full spectrum of all the nutrients a palm needs.

I will try to find the MicroLife Ocean Harvest, my problem is with two CIDP, they aren't ' the big thing' but I really want them in my little collection.

They are throwing the new spear/ leave shorter than the normal one, I think the issue is a lack of some nutrient.

Thanks for your help John.

You're welcome, Angel.  If you could take photo or two of them, maybe I or someone else on here could narrow down the problem for you.  I might be able to ship a quart sized bottle of the MicroLife Ocean Harvest to you.  I sell MicroLife to people here in South Texas.  I am the only carrying it here right now, and I am trying to become the distributor of it in the Corpus Christi and Rio Grande Valley area.  I will check and see what the cost of shipping will be.  My regular retail price for it is $25, so I will check and see how much the shipping will be if you are interested.

Angel,

That's it.  It's really good stuff.  It looks like they can sell it for less than I can since I have the added cost of gas a couple of times per year going back and forth to Houston (about an 8.5 hour round trip drive for me).  I use it at a rate of 2 oz. per gallon of water, then put it in a small hand held spray bottle.

John

P.S.  I am looking forward to seeing the palm pics.
