Today is the tentative start of Art Basel, here at our lovely Miami Beach Botanical Garden. The Daft Punk in the background means there is no mistaking it--it's arrived! Yes it has been a bit of a headache, behind the scenes, but that's not really for any of the public's concern. If you are not too far away, like style, art, good creative gastronomy and very nicely maintained palms in a world class landscaping design, then come one down! BMW is doing a huge spread and has dozens of cars, along the street, for some kind of interactive experience...

During normal garden operating hours, the event is free to the public. However, after 5pm, the drinks start going around and the real guest list is whipped out for the who's who in Miami to come and enjoy what's hot right now--I don't know; I leave at 3pm so I can only speculate at how oppulent things get... I will be posting pics on this thread of the event, with some of our lovely palms in the background, cuz that's how we roll, round here! ^_^

Below are some shots of setup...

Jason, I must apologize for when we met--I assumed you were part of Art Basel. It wasn't until we met, near the Copernicia alba, that I realized that wasn't true. And only after you left did I realize I too am familiar with you on Palmtalk. I am sorry for that! This event and the culmination of it has been the majority of our focus, here at the garden. I feel If I had known you were coming, I would have recieved you much better. We didn't even do a palm tour! But it was very nice to meet you, still.

This was just as I was leaving for the day. Things were starting to get busy. Walking to my truck, at the end of the street, I felt the crowd growing.

I enjoyed the photos! Quite festive but the palms are still the stars!

Regardless, the stabber should be arrested for attempted murder. An exacto knife across the neck would cause a bleedout in less than a minute.
