Hi all,

So Im moving into a new place in Hawaii (on Oahu) and I have some space to plant out. Im looking for some suggestions on small to medium size palms with a lot of color/character. A little about the land (because Hawaii is so variable) its located up in a valley with abundant rainfall on a slope of a mountain. We get a lot of high winds however so Im thinking most of the large leaved palms couldn't take that. Soil is a rocky clay mix. Would prefer nothing that takes forever to grow as I don't plan to stay in this house more than 10 years.

Would Bentickia condapanna be too big? I've always thought they are amazingly colorful and they grow quite quickly.

Yeah, Calyptocalyx, Iguanura, and a Lanonia or five should add some great color and texture.

Lots of choices here.

Cyrtostachys renda, also known by the common names red sealing wax palm  would be a very colorful choice
