I have a few MONSTER bottle palms with 30-33 rings of trunk (a total of 3' of wood trunk) up for sale. I'm only asking 400.00 USD each for a very old 12' tall specimen.

they are in 25 gal tubs but are 30" box size palms. I have very limited qty and is first come first serve.

    Would it survive up north?  I thought they were marginal outside of the best SD microclimes.

    I think Dave could pull it off since he has very dense canopy and has created a suitable micro climate for more tender stuff.

    There are some growing up in Santa Barbara area as we.

    Since these are so darn big and established they just might work for you ?

    I'm trying a H. indica, and if that works I might get more bold.  But I think the houseplant route is more viable for me.  I was just wondering if they were survivable even in LA.

    I saw one two weeks ago that was planted 20 yrs ago at Doc. Fletcher's garden. HUGE!!!!!!!!

    I also saw a seeding hyophorbe verschaffeltii with 12' of trunk.

    you wont know until you try :) 

    the trick is you need to plant them south facing and keep them out of the frost.

    No, figured I would start with the purported cold hardiest.  I don't really like the look of the spindles to be honest.

    if it was a red form the trunk would be red even at a 1 gal size.

    I love this species! they grow super fast for me and when they flower they smell like night blooming jasmine
