I had a skinny one that I pulled out on Monday.   I’ve seen them skinny in other gardens as well. I think these just tend to do that?  I’m thankful I have some looking a bit on the fat side!

Circumference just below the last retained crownshaft base of that Dypsis prestoniana is 27.5 inches, which would translate to about 8.75 inch diameter.  It is a little wider at the base of the palm, but tough to get anything around it down there because of bromeliad's planted up against it on one side.  I was surprised it wasn't a thicker diameter, but looks can be deceiving.

My A. vestiaria new leaf, the previous one which still has not lost all of it's colour came out in January.

I find its hard for the camera to really capture how vivid the color is on these. I wasn't thrilled about planting a coconut in my yard (all the neighbors have them and do the trimming :floor: and I get to enjoy them) but when I saw the colors on these I had to have one.

Yes very true. it has a brilliant glowing orange color, just beautiful.

My other Dypsis prestoniana is starting to show some nice color after the last leaf leaf base fell off.  Rings are a lot tighter on this one compared to my other one so I'm not getting the nice striping below yet, but maybe eventually.  Had to give the full monty shot of it too in the last photo as its got nice structure besides the color.

Love the orange colors on Dypsis trunks! So rewarding to see, especially in California where you have to wait longer for the display.

Yep, this is why it's nicknamed the Flamethrower!  Today it's almost parchment-colored, especially when backlit by the sun.  Tomorrow hopefully it'll turn pink & red, but it's beautiful today!

Orange crownshaft E.E has finally gone orange. Was green when planted. Hasnt grown in ground but has coloured up :) .

About 30cm.
