Came across this monster yesterday, looks like it may be a hybrid.

Possible, but it is massive. I have a few strictor types in my neighborhood, but they are no where near this big.

Those petioles scream Jubaea. Could be a hybrid.

I think it might be a hybrid, too.

Jubes really hate the hot and damp, which SC can be. Butea hybrids take those conditions much better. Also, the leaves have a more pronounced "V" cross-section than a Jube usually has.

Keep an eye on it and we'll be able to get a better ID when it blooms.

That's what I'm thinking.

Looks like the strictor form to me.

Factoring in its location, it's probably a strictor. This form makes the petioles appear like Jubaea since Jubaea has more upright fronds.

I dont see any hooks indicating Jubaea, but who knows? The petioles look very much like Jubaea.

Very interesting + pretty palm to cultivate then. I( think) see Jubaea in its simple and unarmed petioles, and also in the leaf arrangement....It's simply amazing :drool:dude
