I can’t say how long it will take, but perhaps you can accelerate the germination when you crack the very, very hard shell before:

User00,

I saw in Doranakanda garden that the fruits we town away have germinated freely in the garden and became weeds.

If you get fresh seeds, don't worry!

If you are sure having fresh seeds, don't worry, did you get them still with the red skin?

If not, we'll see if we still have some weed seedlings we can bring you in december.

In my experience, oil palm seed generally takes between 4-6 months before you will see any action. That said, they can remain viable for anything up to a couple of years, especially if they are kept in a moist, warm place. I have a large pot that I dump most old seed into and I've had a few nice surprises over the years as seed has sprouted that I initially thought was well past its best.
