    Looking like a monster rain forest Jim.  Thanks for posting.  I was JUST about to start a thread to ask all the (real) cold hardy palm people to post their end of summer pics.  I need an excuse to get to Iowa and see this in person.

    Looks impressive. I love the red leaves of the castor oil plant. I can't grow them in my garden because they are an environmental weed in most parts of Australia. It is not unusual to see them growing in wasteland next to major roads in my city.

    I may be moving in the spring so I am not looking for anymore

    I used to grow several types of Ricinus as well but did not for a few years now. After seeing your pictures would love to grow some of those new zealand purple variety again next year. Hopefully I can find some seeds as that variety is sometimes hard to get here.

    I got my Castor seeds  on line,e-bay mainly Robbin

    so maybe you could find some there?

    Nothing really cold in the forecast(for here)

    just a return to normal winter temps occasionally

    and then temps back into the 40s/50s with even

    60s a couple days ago with 2"+ of rain.

    El-Nino...the events warming influence

    are definitely noticeable this year.

    Are you going to dig up the red bananas? If mine makes it this winter it will be the first time I have over winter one two winters in a row. After two growing season there just to heavy to move.

    Yeah...the Ensete has been inside

    down in the basement for almost a month.

    Not to much chance of one making it here,

    maybe a winter like this one,we'll see.

    It would need a ton of mulch here.:mellow:

    Any access to cow manure? 3 parts corn husks to one part cow manure would make an incredible compost!
