Hydriastele ramsayi, east of Darwin

Featured Replies

Hi guys! First time poster here. Here are some unique Hydriastele ramsayi (Northern Kentia) as an isolated patch. They are only along a 500m stretch on the Arnhem Highway which is a 250km stretch out from Darwin to Jabiru. They can be also found on the Tiwi Islands, Cobourg Peninsula, and Koolpinyah... endemic to the Northern Territory's Top End. They are deceiving Carpentarias!

Wow that's awesome! I wonder if that's the same large eucalyptus cut off in our both our photos. I'm about 25m in from the highway and shooting east. You can see on my photo a destroyed palm trunk from bushfire on the left.

That was the spot where the Hydriastele palms came nearest to the track (now maybe a road?) between Darwin and Arnhem Land.

Nice photos, habitat shots are the best.

Corpus Christi, TX, near salt water, zone 9b/10a! Except when it isn't and everything gets nuked.

Mr Lightning, those'd be around 180 to 190 kms from Darwin. But they're very widespread across the top of the NT. Right across Arnhem Land and throughout the southern part of Kakadu. Even at the Litchfield Council offices near Darwin.

Here's some Hydriastele Ramsayi near Annesley Point. Oddly enough, you can travel the 40klms from Murganella to Annesley Point and only see these palms in one or two isolated pockets.

BTW, nice pic Lightning man !
