Hey everyone I've been in hibernation for a while and just got back to taking great care of my palms. I have mulch I placed around my palms and it seems to have a white fungus or mold about 1 to 2 inches down, is that normal? I assume it's the moisture but just want to make sure it's not gonna harm the palms. I have pics but can't remember how to post them.

I mulch alot and on occasion see this aswell as sometimes yellow fungus, never had an issue with it.

Yeah I get mushrooms as well. I think my whole issue before with my palms is I had no mulch on them yet live in an area where there is very high heat at times. Looking forward to seeing these all take off, but just being cautious cause I hate seeing any palms die.

I'd imagine it's just the normal process of mulch starting to break down. Heat + moisture + organic matter = fungi.

Neil's correct. Just the normal decomposition process of the mulch.

Normal, and a good thing.

Glad to see you back!

Don't worry about fungus. Part of the process.
