Made it to Houston, only about 10 lbs of soil all over the back of the jeep. But I'm a proud pappa!

Awesome. I had to Google map to find out where Castroville, Tx was located. I am guessing that palm is a stretch there, but that's just a guess. Anyway, gorgeous palm and worth everything you can do to make it a go. I'm pulling for ya!

Yah Keith I'm definitely pushing. But I'm counting on climate change. :) last winter we only saw 2 days below freezing. One day at 28 and one at 30 degrees. So hoping that's a trend.

Yeah that looks like a nice one....tbey seem a bit variable in hardiness...but with the temps you describe

Got it in the ground. Just soil and pearlite, mounded it only a few inches but it's also on a slope so that should help with drainage as well. We've had downpours every day since i got it in the ground so mother nature is trying to drown it before it even gets a chance. The ring will come off as soon as the mound is solid enough it won't erode away in all this rain.
