My father has a couple of nice sized Kerriodoxa elegans in his garden, I believe them to be about 20 years old. I noticed the other day that 1 of them is now flowering and it appears to be a male.

Does anyone know of any flowering female Kerriodoxa that we might be pollinate and produce viable seeds? I'm sure we could arrange to go halves in any successful viable seed.... (preferably someone within Australia)

Sorry about the ordinary pics.....

Ben, I think Phil Arrowsmith's has flowered, but I'm not sure what sex it is.

How old is that Kerriodoxa? Ours haven't seeded yet and I'd love to know when we can expect them to.

Thanks,

Lee

PS: There aren't many palms more beautiful they are.

Average annual rainfall is about 60"; temperature around 80 degrees.

Lee this palm is about 20 years since planting.... probably about 25 years old, you can probably expect yours to flower much sooner than ours! Pity that you need male and female plants for fruit development though... there fore I hope you have a grove of them planted!

Josh, its hard to get a good pic of but this pic is on file and was taken about 5 years ago.

I've got three in a pretty tight group, two have started to flower, both males. Nothing from the third one yet so maybe it's a female.

They were planted six years ago, can't remember the pot size, but nothing larger than a 5 gal. Hope you find a match Ben.

Came home today to find mine flowering for the first time.  Too bad it's the only one that I have.  Can you tell by the photo if this is a male or female ?

Looks like a male.  If it has pollen it's a boy...

Yep, I agree with Rich. Male same as the 1 I posted. Seems to be a glut of males and few females around? We need the ratio to be the other way around!

Check the Palm Exchange for fresh seed.

Don't feel bad, it's like that here in Man Diego as well.  Often times your inflorescence gets blocked!

Mine are flowering....again and the two males are trying to get, what I think is a female, in the mood. I've got three planted and two have been flowering for a few years now, but the other one has done nothing. I'm thinking that might be a female.

Here is a photo after planting in 2009.
