In our Bay Area climate, Parajubaea tend to grow pretty fast. Here's one of several Parajubaea that I've planted through the years. The first picture was taken a year after planting in 2008 out of a one gallon container. Pictures two and three are today. At it's current age, it's likely growing its fastest with four and sometimes five spears pushing and opening all the time. The base of its trunk is growing over the adjacent flagstone and not lifting it at all. The soup can gives scale in picture three.

It appears to be growing faster than my monster and monster to be.

Bet you didn't think it would get as big as it's gotten. I know I didn't think that with mine . . .

I want a little "coconut" curve in the tor-tor trunk and the queen palm is forcing it to grow away from it. At some point in the future the queen will likely go but, for now, she stays.

David, Parajubaea will grow in just about any kind of soil, at least here anyway. Mine is in a clay base with a fertile loam layer above that of two feet approximately.

Nothing like a knock on the door. Maybe they will work with you and plant some palms...?

You'll be surprised how many cool palms have been planted down here in the climatic wonderland of costal San diego from a simple solicitation.

Jimmy, yes it does have some coconut qualities with a hairy trunk of course. The Philodendron is a xanadu variety. I grow all sorts of Phillies including Monstera. They're as easy to grow as weeds.
