mattyb arrives promptly at 7:00am(i rarely see this time of day)with a truck-load of plants he's selling to make room in his greenhouse & a new shirt.

kim came along with us to add some class!

tabebuia(sp?)trees were in bloom.they have 2 flavors!

i hear they taste just like chicken.

it came as a complete surprise that there ARE plants other than palms.

in the tropical greenhouse.kim lost her wedding ring in a giant antherium &...oh no,wait,that was an "i love lucy" episode.

"follow the yellow brick road".

pinanga sp. among dense plantings.

hyophorbe...oh,just read the sign!

areca catechu center,leaf of cocos nucifera on right.

bromeliad flower.

fern leaf.

lytocaryum weddellianum brought by bill sanford as

"raffle-fodder".i got mine,suckas!!!

finally the garden tour!large caryota gigas fared well in jan.cold spell.

chameadorea sp.not so lucky.

but "life goes on",as they say.who are "they",anyways?

on the way back from lunch we drove past santa anita racetrack for some unknown reason.either mattyb has a secret gambling habit or he was lost.
