Winter update from the Bronx.

Pretty tough winter!!! some minor damage. dried out tips. Spears seem strong.

Getting hard to protect, because of size.

Third winter in the ground. I guess the most important thing for winterizing is keeping them dry.

Cold does not seem to bother these trees.

hope everyone had good success this winter

Robert

Great job! I'm impressed. Trachycarpus are beautiful palms.

Los Angeles, CA and Myrtle Beach, SC.

Brutal winter up there...suprised anything is alive.

David Simms zone 9a on Highway 30a

200 steps from the Gulf in NW Florida

30 ft. elevation and sandy soil

Yeah, it was tough up there, though a far cry from a place like Chicago.

Still, many kudos!

Eventually, the warm climes will beckon.

Let's keep our forum fun and friendly.

Wow, palms in the Bronx! Who would've thought! Very impressive. :) Good luck - should be easy cruising now for the next 7-8 months!

I'm very impressed as well!

Where there is a palm, there is a way.

I am very glad you are having a lot of success with these trees... I have sold over 400 of these trees and have been hearing a lot of success stories from my customers from this past winter.... Have you ever used peroxide for the crown? What about epsom salt for the soil this time of year to help green them up? I would love it if you gave me a call... you can my number on my website. I have a few questions for you

Congratulation on your success! I just found a 45 year old palm tree pic in NY on a website from another palm nursery, so they can grow in NYC. Hurray!

Nice garden Robert, the trees look great! Wasn't there palms in the Bronx at the Botanical Gardens? Could have sworn they had some needles and Sabal minors planted unprotected.

Robert, I remember your first thread here and subsequent updates. Looks like the protection did a good job this past winter. So cool! All three look great. Thanks for the update.

Well done sir! I raise my glass and tip my hat to ye. Do you have any photos of them with the winter protection?

I remember when you were protecting them also. You should post close up pictures!

I'm more and more impressed each time you post photos. May you and your palms have a productive summer!
