Wow, a whole slew of cocos nucifera at the Sarasota Costco. All labeled as indoor tropicals and "majesty palms". I let the manager know but he didnt seem to care. $13.99 each. Includes the decorative pot. I got 3 of them. I will be waiting until warmer weather arrives to put outside. The tag says "timbercreek wholesale, boca raton Fl". Anyone hace experience with this nursery? I assume they are malayans.

some people have had limited success trying to grow these in coastal micro climates here in south Orange County and San Diego. The Newport coconut is a good example.

Most people may get a few good years then they eventually die due to cold spell or the Santa Ana winds zap them dead.

I doubt we'll be seeing them at our Costco any time soon. $32.98 at the big box store usually. I have one that has done really well in my office since last year and one that was indoors for one year, then planted last summer. It's not the prettiest thing in the world, but still kicking. At $13.99 each I'd be content to have them all over my house!
