Dypsis decipiens - will it grow in the acidic, central Florida sand?

Do I guess correctly, that one of them has been the Phoenix theophrasti?

You are correct, but I still have one more hanging in there.  Just wish I knew what to do to help it.

So no one picked up in my Rocky Horror Picture Show reference?  :(

Land O Lakes FL, a suburb on the North Side of Tampa, FL

Summers are great, 90f/32c in the day & 70f/21c at night with plentiful rain & sun

Winters are subtropical with occasional frosts and freezes. Tropical cyclones happen.

We have a few Royal palms in the warm microclimates but Coconuts freeze.

I am a Kayaker, Hiker, Bicyclist, and amateur Photographer that loves the outdoors.

Thanks for your responses. I'll be trying to get one soon.

I did not.  It has been many years since I saw it and didn't remember that one.   But did the midnight showing at the theature more than once.   Great fun.

No I didn't. And I looked for it since your post and still can't find it. Let's do the time warp again and direct me to it.

I quiver with anticipation.

Keith & Moose.  Remember the scene in the lab cooler when Frank killed Eddie?

That was Frank's response the witnesses/guests that were still in the gallery after the Rocky awakening.

Whenever I hear that phrase "mercy killing" I think of Frank-n-furter's line.

Too many nights at the Varsity Theater in St Louis, I guess.  Those screenings were a real hoot!

Here's mine. Hopefully it lives long enough to turn into something interesting.

It survived another summer. It's not fast by any measure, but it's alive! The new leaves are shorter than the old ones because it's in more sun than it was before. My parents got a new puppy so the cage is a precaution to keep the palm from getting chewed up or run into.

Tampa, Florida (9b/10a) and Freiburg, Germany (8a).

I think I've seen a couple of these in New Tampa off Bruce B. Downs, but I was just driving past so I didn't get a good enough look.

Probably not. My apartment for school is in that area and I've never seen them. This species is cold hardy enough for the area, but it isn't a super easy grower in Florida.

Yeah, it does seem improbable. The palms I'm thinking of are on the east side of the road a little north of Wal-Mart. I haven't been able to spot them on streetview so I think they were planted in 2016...
