After seeing that I dream I can plant a "Seychelles grove" in the garden; planting together Nephrosperma, Verschaffletia, Phoenicophorium and Deckenia, with some Lodoicea if I can. It should give a wonderful atmosphere in a garden.

Did some of you do that already? ( some hawaiian member?)

Philippe! So amazing--Seychelles palms are. I have seen Roscheria locally, flowering, but none of the other palms I have seen as adults, in South Florida. Cold is no doubt our main issue, though if more were around to try, I am sure we would have more palms to show for...

Nice shots Phillipe. I did it here Phillipe but without the Lodoecia. They surround my two bedroom rental house so they are not a grove so to speak but they are grouped together as most stuff is here (according to what part of the planet it comes from).

I have seen at least two such gardens here. You have to watch out that the Seychelles gardens don't become overgrown jungles (like the forest in the pictures). Verschaffeltias grow enormously tall and can't be seen through the abundant vegetation of shorter palms, such as Phoenicophoriums. The latter species can become enormous. Fortunately, both species will grow well in full sun in east Hawaii.

Beautiful pictures, Philippe, but some of the featured palms have much narrower leaflets than the others. Are we looking at two species?

Maybe you see Deckenia nobilis leaves behind some Nephrosperma. (soon a Deckenia nobilis post)

It was difficult to photograph only one species, many times Lodoicea went on the picture too.

Looks magical so many awesome palms what a great climate :winkie:

Those are stunning shots, Phillipe. There's so much drama in a setting so lush and dense with that beautiful foliage. What an outstandingly exciting place horticultualy! Thanks for posting. If I could grow any of those palms in my climate, I'd certainly have them in groves.

Jim,

It's what I'll try to do in Doranakanda gardens.

Only Lodoicea is the problem… how to get nuts?
