That was one of my favorite shows, after Hee Haw reruns. Silly but fun. RIP dear . . . .

Some people complained and still do so, about the "putdown" of so-called "country folk" in this series. If they had looked beyond their outrage they might see the show was full of satire about the shallowness, greed and vanity of the other wealthy, sophisticated and jaded characters that populated the landscape where the Hillbillies lived. Any putdown was of American society in the 1960s (east & west coasts). Fifty + years later that society has not changed. Jed Clampett et. al. always retained their humanity and grace. I was fond of Buddy Ebsen since he played Fess Parker's sidekick in Disney's "Davy Crockett" (a show that has not held up over time).

RIP, Elly Mae

I first saw Donna Douglas in a Twilight Zone episode called "Eye of the Beholder," although at the time I didn't know she would eventually play the role of Elly May of the Beverly Hillbillies a couple of years later. I was saddened to hear of Donna's passing.
