We're right in the thick of this weather system right now (11:30 AM) and are experiencing torrential rains but the wind forecast has not materialized. We had a few gusts to maybe 25 mph but it's completely calm now and dumping huge amounts of rain.

The weather event is called the Pineapple Express...check out the link I posted in the weather thread.

The weight of lies will bring you down / And follow you to every town / Cause nothin happens here

That doesn't happen there / So when you run make sure you run / To something and not away from

Cause lies don't need an aero plane / To chase you anywhere

Peter, Most of us on the West coast are familiar with that term and what it means as far as rainfall amounts. We're getting hammered with heavy rain in the SF Bay Area right now and it's been going on for hours and will likely continue for several more. Flash flood watches and warnings are posted for our area. It's crazy and, thankfully, the winds are nonexistent.

[Verse 1: Dr. Dre]

Now let me welcome everybody to the wild, wild west

A state that's untouchable like Elliot Ness

The track hits ya eardrum like a slug to ya chest

Pack a vest for your Jimmy in the city of sex

We in that sunshine state where that bomb ass hemp be

The state where ya never find a dance floor empty

And pimps be on a mission for them greens

Lean mean money-makin-machines servin fiends

I been in the game for ten years makin rap tunes

Ever since honeys was wearin sassoon

Now it's '95 and they clock me and watch me

Diamonds shinin lookin like I robbed Liberace

It's all good, from Diego to tha Bay

Your city is tha bomb if your city makin pay

Like Jim, lots of rain but not much in wind disturbance........My Koi pond has risen 4 inches since the initial rain. This does not mean we have had 4 inches of rain, but a goodly part of it.

Some wind last night. A bit strong but short lived. Calm now, the garden still looks great. I was expecting this storm to trash my garden! Most every Nov. my garden gets trashed by Santa Ana winds. This could be 2 years in a row that my garden looks great with out damaging winds??? Also my deciduous are still holding leaves like last winter. they usually drop their leaves by now. Last winter they never defoliated!!!

Here comes the rain again

Falling on the streets of downtown La La

Falling like diminished expectations . . . .

Looks like a good soaker.

Starting early, hope it keeps up.

And, no wind, except after the Lentil Soup of Doom

Over five inches of the wet stuff during that 24 hour drenching and it's raining hard again! Thankfully, the nasty predicted winds didn't develop, here at least.

I just saw a video of an EF0 tornado over South LA. Small, but you can see the spinning debris. Odd. :yay:

Here in Laguna Hills, not far from Brett in Mission Viejo, we got hammered with wind...no pun intended. I could hear it howling unfortunately so could my dog who ended keeping us up all night 'cause she was scared.

Not too much debris from the wind. That was nice. I think the rain was so heavy it forced debris to the ground before it had time to blow into my yard. Usually winds are bring a lot off the Euc on the city property behind my property line.
