OFFICIAL trunkage on BS Mans D. big curley/prestoniana

Featured Replies

After reading up on the latest various prestoniana out there I decided to look closer at my little guy...

It appears it has attained "trunkage" and I measure it just under 1 foot across. I suspect I will step up the water, the leaves are getting a little thinner than in the past.. its getting to be a big boy.. more water will probably expand the base a couple inches more I hope..

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

What a fatty Bill. I'd say you are promoting some junk in the trunk action there ! :greenthumb:

It holds more than 7 leaves all the time and I could use the leaf bases as wheel chocks.. :winkie:

I guess I should not have stunted my poor palm by growing it in a wood box in the ground.. :bemused: <---- uuuuhhhh, that is sarcasm for those of you that cannot decipher it when you read it...

Bill,

Not only does it have trunk, but it's also a great looking palm. Here's a photo of you and me and of course the prestoniana! :) Photo by Kim, and this was in early December 2011, so exactly three years ago. It certainly seems to hold more fronds now and they also seem to be much greener. :)

It's amazing that it grew that large, still in the box. Are you gonna plant it in Spring?

That's a toad Bill. My buddy lives a street over from you and I drove by your place by accident and had to slam on my brakes. In person it looks even bigger. Is this the biggest one in Cali?
