My dear friends..

I have decided to plant this Corypha on a spot outside my garden.. on public property actually..

post-6784-0-21575200-1409489089_thumb.jp

Now.... My concern is that it will become to big to fast.. the spot where i want to put it around 10m x 15m

I have checked out some pictures on the net but i don't feel that it gives me certainty..

How fast can i expect it to grow here in the tropics..? It was sown in 2011 and seems to be a pretty fast grower..

How much room does it need to develop...?

Any comments on the subject are appreciated..

regards

Jonas

They are not that fast relative to how large they get with time. A massive palm like Corypha umbraculifera spends many years developing its trunk before thrusting upward. The area you mention is adequate to accommodate its girth.

Great palm !!! :greenthumb:

thank you moose... I have a Mauritia Flexuosa in my garden that i planted like 14 years ago and i has not started to grow a trunk yet... So that gives me time i guess...

It is indeed a beautiful palm...
