A great TNQ palm garden

For anyone that's had anything to do with Jan smith you couldn't meet a nicer lady, salt of the earth as I like to put it, which takes Ben and myself to our next garden. Jan is situated at Julatten, about an hours drive north of Cairns, the drive was breath taking, thru plantations of coco nut trees to winding ocean roads, this was one very scenic drive. Enjoy ......

Some people go for a run or go to the gym first thing of a morning Ben and I decide to checkout the palms at the caravan park before we went to Jans.

I am really interested in an id for this palm......... At first I thought this was the Chambeyronia lepidota but now I can see the palm in post #9 is definitely the lepidota. Is the palm in question here a Cyphophoenix alba?? I can't come up with any other ideas??

Well, bit of a marathon this one, but certainly worth it, thanks for having Ben and myself over Jan, nice to put a face to a name, no doubt we shall talk again in the not to distant future, all the best

Jan's place was great and Just like all the other North Qld palm folk Jan was a great host! She is a great ambassador and possibly an unsung hero of the palm community!! Thanks Jan!!!

As Paul mentioned earlier we had noticed a bit of a lack of New Cal palms in the north. This is most likely due to the massive range of tropical palms they can grow but Paul and I both love our New Cal palms and Jan's definitely provided some eye candy for us in that respect!! The Chambeyronia lepidota, cyphosperma balansae and the likely cyphophoenix alba were among the many highlights in this garden!!

Thanks again for a marathon posting effort Paul, I'm very glad I let you take the camera and therefore become the primary poster of our epic trip north....

Love the Lepidota and all palms posted esp G costata, would love to try that here, I agree with above comment re Jans "unknown" Newcal palm, 100% not C alba, I would say its Kentiopsis magnifica, and post 29 is Jurassic pk.

You guys may be correct about the magnifica... I just couldn't pin it down but if that's what it is it's the largest I have seen so quite likely is magnifica.

The dypsis looked to be an amp though..... Different shape to most I have seen but leaflets etc screamed amp to me?

Pedro... By jp I assume that is now oropedionis??
