Mark Daish Botanical Garden

G'day all one of our stops while up north was to Mark Daishs place,I just wanna give a big shout out to Mark for making the time to show Kennybenjamin and myself around his magnificent garden,Mark was very generous with his time to walk us around his garden. Like the thread says it really is a botanical garden. Hope you enjoy the tour.

This was home for 3 nights

no shortage of palms where we were staying

This next palm I said to Ben reminded me of an airbus A380 it was massive

Those big old dypsis were incredible ( as were most of these palms!) I think the looks on my face were more of disbelief at what I was seeing as opposed to a grin... There were plenty of smiles on my face throughout this garden tour though!!!!

Well thats pretty much the end of the tour, like I said at the top of the thread a real special thanks to Mark for sparing a good 3hrs out of his day to show us around his garden, I certainly won't forget this in a hurry, it's been a real privilege to look around Marks place,many thanks Mark and hope to cya again soon....

Thanks Paul for taking 5 hours out of your day to share these pics... I hope they are appreciated by the masses on PT? your pics and Marks garden / collection deserve high praise (particularly Marks property!) I have personally been to many great palm gardens including those in Hawaii and as an Aussie I am proud to say that this garden is in the same high echelon as those that get plenty of attention here on Pt!!

Huge thanks to Mark also from me for being a great host and a great guy, I loved talking palms with him! The palms pictured here are about half of his great collection and his permission to allow these photos on PT should be greatly appreciated by all of us, Mark is a typical unassuming Aussie and he wouldn't care if no one knew about his garden except him. In fact he might possibly prefer it that way, thanks Mark! Keep it up!!

Thanks for posting Paul, very well captured. I hope your stocklist was sorted well Ben.

It's been such a long time since I was there with the ratpackers. That variegated Dypsis has certainly grown heaps as has the Marojejya.

Look forward to more threads from the excursion.

You should have seen Mark's old Lemurophoenix...Cyclone Larry took it out unfortunately...it was a monster!

Mark's place is always special...I wonder what it would look like if it hadn't taken two Cat5 direct hits in recent years!
