C. macrocarpa Leaf not as Red this Summer?

Featured Replies

Why is the leaf not as red this year? Is it a soil issue?post-97-0-84353400-1407076422_thumb.jpg

Looks fine to me. I've noticed that they throw more leaves in the summer, but they're not as intense as winter leaves.

Might be that because it grows faster in rainy season, each new leaf turns from red to green faster. If you don't catch it at its peak of redness, i.e., at night or while you are at work, you think the color is inferior.

Whoa, that's not red enough?

Looks pretty [expletive] red to me.

Do you have a picture of what was red enough?

Most red emergent palms seem to open the reddest leafs during cool periods, while the color comes out less intense in the warm season. However this red,is more than red enough :)

Thanks for the replies.....this is an old picture of the red over the winter....I thought there was another pic with the leaf more open. As you can see...it was a deep maroon red....it stayed that color for about a month before turning green.post-97-0-06998800-1407107352_thumb.jpg
