If you had $50K to spend on your garden

Featured Replies

I would build an arboredum over my whole yard. That way I have all the shade I need in summer and can pull a clear plastic tarp over it in the winter to create a greenhouse.

Hmmm, 50k, maybe half on palms and the other half to pay off the custom's agents to get them into the country!

hot and humid, short rainy season May through October, 14* latitude, 90* longitude

Whatever size Encephalartos woodii & latifrons I could purchase for $ 50,000.00

I would probably go for the hardscape. An alumawood patio cover, outdoor kitchen, outdoor fireplace, and a hot tub to enjoy with my wife :laugh2: I probably wouldn't spend it on palm trees or cycads. I actually prefer to start with a little smaller palm trees and cycads. Watching them grow and become something is part of the fun.

Landscape my yard to channel rain water... so this would include downspout installation. I have a plan for my back yard... but after doing my front yard... which I am still working on- this has evolved... and it is very expensive. When we get some rain here in Albuquerque... (we just got 1 whole inch today)... that water could work wonders if it is used correctly for palms...
