I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Lee is a huge fan of understory palms and there are literally dozens planted throughout the garden. I confess I don't know most of them by name. Here are three that I do know.

I have a small front garden. Starting to put in understory Dypsis under some of the canopy.

Dypsis lantzeana

D lutea or might be sanctaemariae

D scottiana

D louvelli

D boseri

Row of 10 Dypsis minuta as a border, with Dypsis hiarakae on the left, Dypsis interrupta in the middle and Dypsis scottiana on the left. They are all in

pretty tight quarters, but I now realize that many don't make it. Will have to get thin the canopy eventually, but it works for now.

Areca red macrocaylx as outer canopy, with Dypsis lantzeana, forficifolia (which has its first abortive flower), Dypsis boseri, mostly hidden

Dypsis brevicaulis.
