Does anyone have any information regarding the possibility of crossing Strelitzia nicolai with S. reginae or if anyone's already done this? I would think that the result would be beautiful.

And, alas, no answer.

The only reference I found to any kind of strelitzia hybrid was on the Wikipedia link regarding a hibe' between S. regina and S. augusta.

    My large white BOP is putting out a bloom and I have access to the orange/purple flowered ones pollen. I'm surprised no one has done one of these crosses yet.

    I have the 2 species in the garden. As they were blooming at the same time, i made crossing pollinisation. The "fruits" are here now, and i am waiting for the seeds!

    If i could i would try to cross strelitzia with ravanela pollen, why not?

    But here in France there's no ravanela.

    Curiosity got the best of me. Let's see if either sets seeds. I'll try to go up on my roof a few times each week to continue crossing pollinating while nicolai is in bloom

    I feel like a hybrid exists. In my days of bored research I know there is one at least, but I can’t recall where I read about it. Good luck to you either way, surely it can’t be that hard.

    About the best I know off is mandelas gold, is all they have come up with over the years with a strelitzia reginae.
