I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Some nice stuff in there! The survivors are going to be loving the extra attention (water and nutrition) they'll get with the weeding done.

Out of curiousity, were the critters climbing the pots to get to the roots/trunks or were they eating through the container bottoms? Look forward to the new garden video.

Wow, Bill. I look forward to the "after." Everybody talks about voles & gophers but could rabbits have done some of that? Seems like a critter climbing into pots to gnaw stuff would be a bit larger than a vole. Not to pick on you but doesn't Oceanside have some sort of code enforcement officers that might have dropped by to encourage you to weed sooner? Cape Coral jumps all over people who have overgrown lots, not just to promote beautification but to remove fuel for brush fires, which are the bane of FL dry season. Given all the fires in Cali I would think towns would be extra vigilant. Finally, your neighbors must be a mellow, laid-back bunch. I've been turned in to Code Enforcement by anonymous neighbor(s) for running a commercial nursery (my container garden was too near the street), keeping pots/trays near the garage, trash/recycling containers in front of the garage...... Big Brother is watching.

Oh, after weeding, fertilize, fertilize, fertilize.

Weeds, Schmeeds!

Your garden rocks, don't let the uber tidy people intimidate you, Bill.

Some palms love a little close company from little plants . . . .

Bill, I wish I could be there to help you. Your garden will be extremely beautiful when it's cleaned up. I always like the feeling of accomplishment after a big clean-up, revealing the hidden beauty obscured by the weeds and dead leaves.

Hey Bil

Really enjoyed the video . You have an amazing collection of rare palms some that i would love to grow .

:greenthumb:

Completely weeded with a nice mulch layer of wood chips and a winding garden path like Matty B has would make you garden look spectacular !

Ha, you call this tiny grass weeds? You should see my weeds by late May! Then you can comprehend why first humanoids stood on the two back feet...

I thought it said Weding Video. You should take your woman inside that tunnel of love made by the grass and tie the knot and all the weeding guests can each pull a handy of weeds

Now, this is what I call real weeds, and go figure out how they will look like ('trees' that is) by late May. A today picture with IPS member Kostas for scale...
