I feel sorry they have changed the roof and suppressed the roof top lobby!

A dash of Bellagio or Lugano transplanted to Sri Lanka. What crazy fun, Philippe! You must be having a great time. I agree with Dave that you need to keep the pictures coming...

Paul,

I believe it's Livistona sinensis, it must be around 70 years old, like the Roystonea oleracea line.

Aloha Philippe,

What a jewel of a hotel !!!! Love the era and the easy graciousness of the architecture.

Did the 1000 chocolate geonoma arrive yet?

Philippe,

Ah yes, I remember it well. My grandmother took me there for the grand opening. Perhaps you remember me. I was wearing a blue diaper and riding in the pram pushed by my nanny who was wearing the bright yellow bow in her hair. The palms were all seedlings of course and we had to keep dodging the elephant ‘droppings’ but the hotel itself hasn’t changed a bit since then.

Thanks for bringing up all the great old memories.

Mike,

Of course I remember you, particularly when you were in the pool at midnight, in a strange attire…. with your lovely nanny.
I saw everything since I was hidden behind the Ptychosperma, but I can't tell here what I have seen. :)

Lee,

I am afraid they travelled by the wrong flight, on Malaysia airlines, so now it's quite difficult to find them. I am so sorry.

Can you send some others again?

When do we have a drink at the Hotel Suisse's lobby?

Phillipe,

I stayed at this hotel during my Sri Lanka trip in October! Enjoyed every minute, would love to go back!

The Botanical Gardens in Kandy is a palm lovers dream.

A Palm Tour to Sri Lanka would be absolutely awesome!

Julie

Julie,

I agree with you (seeing my threads you can notice I fall in love with Sri Lanka)

It's why I hope one day I'll meet a palmtalk member under the palms of Peradeniya!

If you wish; I can send you a palm Tour itinerary through the country… including elephants (palm-lovers too!)

Kindest regards

Philippe
