I am considering what new thing to embellish the garden with in 2014. With the abundance of limbs, sticks, and trimmings, especially after this freeze, I am considering a new Wood Chipper.

Maybe this one? http://www.lowes.com/pd_412107-41344-CH5_4294612683__?productId=3800557&Ns=p_product_qty_sales_dollar|1&pl=1&currentURL=%3FNs%3Dp_product_qty_sales_dollar%7C1&facetInfo=

Anyone have any thoughts, better alternatives, jabs, jives, just funny jokes, etc?

Keith,

Nothing funny. I had one and used it to create my own mulch. It was VERY noisy, a little dangerous and required some maintenance.

But it did reduce the waste to fine mulch which breaks down faster. Straight palm fronds can take years to break down, especially the petioles. In my shredder the petioles had to be chopped into short lengths.

Fibrous materials like palmfronds, yucca, and almost all flax leaved type plants would wrap around the shaft and clog it,

Try to get one that will not clog on flax leaves. It requires a special form of cutter.
