( Acoelorrhaphe wrightii Palm Planting Work _ Yr 2014)

Dear Friends,

Recently we planted few palms in our garden,I had to do it since there plastic containers have all fragmented very badly. And the pots available here are not U-V Stablised black coloured pots.Since we are approaching hots summers in a months time.So we decided to plant this Acoelorrhaphe wrightii Palm.(Everglades palm,Paurotis Palm)in our garden. And few huge dicot trees in our garden were trimmed to facilitate more sunlight to enter this planting area.Stills of that operation will be posted in a new thread later.

And here is a video of that work and as time permitts i will upload even stills of this work,To enable even mobile phone users to see it.

All comments and suggestions are welcome.

Wish you all a happy new year_2014.

Love,

kris.

There is something peculiar in this plant, I am not sure what, but it seems to be fussy regarding water quality or soil ph.

I enjoyed the video Kris! Thanks!

Nice video. I assume that's dolomite lime in the hole? This is a nice plant kept to one single trunk.

I don't see the appeal of keeping it to 1 trunk.

Dolomite? Why; does it have high needs in magnesium or alkalinity?

I will answer to all the questions one by one but now lets have some visuals(Stills) of the same.

I do not know much about this palm, lets see how it fairs in our tropical climate with clay soil.

No,its not Dolomite but is just Perlite Coarse Grade.

Dear Rafael thanks !

Dear Cindy Thanks for visiting and glad you like this video.

Dear Axel,Glad you like the video and the white powder used here is just Perlite. And as far as its trunk once the palm establishes and puts out side sprouts we will decide.

Dear paul even i feel that at least 3 trunks with different heights would appeal to me.But now its too early to say how it does in our climate ?

I have been wanting a Paurotis Palm for a while now. There are a few of them growing here in South Texas, which I don't understand, since they seem to do quite well here. Only one local nursery carries them and they are supposedly going out of business. They have them in 7 gal. pots for about $60. Way too much for palms when the nursery is supposedly going out of business. Maybe I can find some seeds of some of the ones in the area and sprout my own.

Sorry to inform that this palm had rotted around 2 years later after planting it..Reason is constant rainfall, less of direct sunlight and the soil always remaining damp in and around this plant.

Kris.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. But I guess in India you probably have plenty of other tropical plants 😁 I definitely have to visit your country some day!
