I saw this little fellow in my woods while I was preparing plants for winter --- I thought I would share with the group.

Nice Cottonmouth! Diamond shaped head, and the bold eye stripe are a dead give away. Curious how big it was. Surprised it isn't in defensive posture in the picts. Caught a 5 footer while visiting a friend in Texas a few years ago. Glad it was still too cold to move around much when I found it, lol. Fangs were huge!

I try to keep pretty calm around snakes so they dont go into a defense posture---I was trying to get real close and in focus so Icould get a sharp photo.
