PalmTalk Software/Hardware Failure

For anyone wondering why we were down so long this morning/afternoon --- somehow the server lost contact with the disk array. Which means our hard drive(s) became invisible. Or as the tech heads phrased it "there was an issue with the parent recognizing your instance." It was a malfunction they had not seen happen before - so it took a while to first diagnose and then correct.

I blamed my office computer and missed my usual catch up over dinner break PT fix. Thanks for getting everything working again, Dean.

Yes, I noticed the outage as well. Thanks for the fix.

Well, given recent events i was worried the first thought on most people's minds would have been "Oh Oh" not politics again. :)

That thought did cross my mind

Silly, silly rabbit! I personally instantly recognized that the parents of my array had failed to notice my invisible hard drives and obviusly transmigrated to the "instance" of contact which as everyone knows is about as bad a technical meltdown as can happen unless the server is also obfuscated by the malfunction. What a techtastrophy! Glad you got it sorted out.

Wish I could say it is all "sorted out." Apparently there are some other things going on that caused the problem in the first place and we are still trying to figure out the best way to approach the situation. The short story is that there is a chance this may get worse before it gets better - but assuredly unpredictable.

As an update - we are scheduling a move of this dedicated cloud server to another "parent" in the next couple of days - probably on the weekend, late at night. At this time I do not know how much down time that will cause, or on what day/night it will occur.

I will try to give as much advance notice as possible here.
