One of my favorite colors, especially on a palm! Beautiful photos of beautiful palms. Does the crownshaft retain the flush all the time, or is it just after shedding a frond? Yummy!

Pete,

Pretty spectacular. And it's my understanding that Dypsis sambiranensis will be known under a different name. At some point! :)

Paul, these are an easy find still. :)

Kim, it hasn't shed for a while , but as you can see the stem stays quite vivid for some time before ageing and going lime green, the Crownshaft on this particular palm always has colour and yes even more so than in the pics when an old one is shed.

Cindy and Philippe, the palm said thanks :)

Bo, thanks for that updated info.

Pete,

Would it be too intrusive or illegal ( with IPS BOD I don't know...) if I ask you how you got seeds or seedlings from this wonderful species?

Let's say:

- from a private connection with other palm-addict

- from commercial sources everybody can find on internet or on Palmtalk

- from your own expedition in places where it grows

- from the supermarket close to your home?

Many thanks

Philippe

Philippe, I bought a few yrs ago from a Great Expat Yank ( who is a proud Aussie citizen now :) who's nursery has long closed down, he plays Golf on a beautiful course in Port Douglas, he doesn't look at Palmtalk, his name is Curt Butterfield, he's great mates with some Big Islanders like Bill Austin and JM :)

JM will have seedlings of this, its been under a few names as sambiranensis and Pink crownshaft , hope this info helps. Pete :)

Thank you Pete,

I have Pink crownshaft seeds (from RPS) and hope..

Or I'll get seedlings from JM next year again, since I discovered JM's seedlings are traveling very well! :)

This is really a very beautiful palm, and your photos too.

Thanks

Philippe

Pete,

How is your palm after one year? Is it also the palm now called "Neophloga Pink Crownshaft"?

I got 3 seedlings, it seems I shouldn't plant them in full sun, isn't it?

Many thanks if you post new pictures of this wonderful species.

After a 20'000 km journey and 3 days after repotting, they look good and develop new leaves, I am looking forward to seeing them growing, and where shall I plant them?

Stunning palm and I like that it retains the pink coloration several leaf scars downward.
