For years Dean has urged us to upload photos directly to the forum so that when photobucket accounts, and other various photo servers, expire threads don't have missing photos. Fortunately, a lot of people continued to use photobucket, which now gives us the power to render all those threads useless by removing our photos.

So the question is: for any photos that we have uploaded directly to the forum, can we request that they be deleted?

Matt, I see you are as angry as others, but rather than take this tact, choose to preserve and add to what we have all spent years building. ANNOUNCE YOUR CANDIDACY for the BOD!

It won't change overnight and will take time. Be the good man that you are and sign on for the long hall.

In my post I sometimes express "my" opinion. Warning, it may differ from "your" opinion. If so, please do not feel insulted, just state your own if you wish. Any data in this post is provided 'as is' and in no event shall I be liable for any damages, including, without limitation, damages resulting from accuracy or lack thereof, insult, or any other damages

I use pics hosting websites such as photobucket and imageshack, so I can delete photos here on forum just by clicking delete button on pics in my albums on those websites, if I want...

I don't have the time, interest, in being on the BOD, nor can i afford to attend board meetings and biennials.. My contribution to the ips is my membership fee and my extensive participation on palm talk. I no longer wish to contribute and participate in an organization that continues to work like this. I'll be making my 2 massive photo bucket accounts "private" until this pm issue is resolved.

So, what's the answer to removing photos uploaded?

Do whatever you wish but I think on that end you're hurting PT members and no one else. A BOD member won't give two craps about if they can see your pictures, but I know of times where I've searched through posts to track the growth of some of your palms, which is useful information to have.

Well, the BODs might care if enough people delete enough photos rendering their most popular presence on the internet full of "holes". I don't think they understand how valuable palm talk is to them.

The palmtalk committee is now able to at least communicate via emails and I know there are exchanges with the IPS executive committee. Please try to wait a bit longer before anything escalates further.

I truly don't want to lose any treasured photos nor the photo contributors who have helped me so much.

Can you imagine all those bumped threads full of posts that read, "sorry image cannot be displayed".

Well, if you want to take your ball and go home, I certainly can't stop you. But I still enjoy your friendship and think you would make a heck of a good board member. It is the people that don't have the time that make the best ones, cause they don't participate in the silliness that sometimes happens on BOD. They just get things done.

Someone please answer the man on removing pictures

Be patient if you can mate, I reckon this will probably resolve itself before too long.

We dont want to destroy what we've built here.

If ultimately there's no long term resolution then by all means tear it down - but please give it a bit more time.

Someone who no longer wishes to post here told me how to delete our photos.

Matt, I read your post on PT (I will no longer post there). If you wish to remove your uploaded photos go into "My Settings" in the left menu bar you will see "Manage Attachments" at the top of each page you will see a box that if you click on and then delete will remove all pictures on that page. You will have to continue through all pages you may have

Hey Matt,

Give it a bit & let things sort themselves out. It would suck to not be able to see some of the great pictures you've taken over the years; your garden has inspired a lot of things in mine.

Thanks for the info on how to delete photos. I have 412 pages of attachments, maybe it's time to delete them and put my efforts into Palmpedia.

Will a day make a difference if you end up deleting priceless posts? I will lose for sure if you do and the board of directors who already aren't as active will have even less incentive to visit. I doubt anyone will replace their photos if they change their mind tomorrow.

I sincerely understand and respect your taking a stance. I'm just asking for a breather at least overnight.

I am TRYING to log off and stay off Palmtalk since the committee can now communicate (albeit less smoothly) via emails. I just keep checking in hoping for GOOD news and to minimize irreparable content losses from our threads.
