This grub and worms were found deep in the stem of some of my smaller bismarck palms.

The palms that were rotten from the damage also had earwigs and some other small black beetle enjoying all the slime and goo.

Plants were sprayed with insecticide but that had no effect on these nasties.

We had to cut them out.

Has anyone else seen these before.

Located on Vanua Levu near Savusavu (16degrees South) Elevation from sealevel to 30meters with average annual rainfall of 2800mm (110in) with temperature from 18 to 34C (65 to 92F).

The fat one could be Rhynchophorus sp.,check it out. Many beetle larvae look similar though and you need to get into technical details for a sure ID.
