Trying to answer Kim's question on the other thread, I mentioned yesterday Nephrosperma and Rhopaloblaste

(I am impressed it seems not many Palmtalk members rare interested with Rhopaloblaste...who can send a beautiful pic?).

Today I show pics of the splendid stilt root palm:

Philippe,

Verschaffeltias are wonderful palms, and yours look great! I planted 52 in my old garden - I wanted a forest of them! :) And once they began seeding, there were also lots of self germinated seedlings underneath the mature individuals, and I ended up with MANY more than 52! :D

Nice pics and great growth Philippe! Verschaffeltias are what got me into palms, they have it all with their entire leaves and stilts. I have 5 in the ground, 2 of which I grew from seed. I find them fast growers and even non "palmy" people tend to notice them!

Thanks again

These are great trees! Even though twice "pruned" by cattle, they are beginning to look like the pictures on Palmtalk and my books!

This is one species even I can usually recognize. I know you will always treasure yours Philippe and they look very happy.

Again I love the background on your pics, Cindy.

Your Verschaffeltia will look great within few years in such a beautiful jungle.

In Doranakandawatta Estate, we'll plant many Verschaffeltia along the stream bank next year.

Have you seen Veschaffeltia's grove pics in the old thread of Bo's garden? or have you been lucky to visit Bo and his garden?

Philippe, I have not had the privilege of visiting Hawaii since I set foot in Puerto Rico. I've been to Hawaii twice in the long past and loved the palms (and everything else) but couldn't tell one palm from another at that time.

Some day I'd love to go back! There was a wonderful trip planned by several on this forum who live in Hawaii. It was scheduled at the same time as one of my children's graduations so I could not attend. Perhaps many others also had time conflicts as the event ultimately had to be cancelled. Perhaps in the future the opportunity will come again and we both can be there!

Be prepared, Floribundapalms, we arrive!

This is beautiful.... I would absolutely love to have this palm here... Bought 10 seeds from RPS in 2011 only 1 germinated... Later it dies because I had left the care of the nursery to someone who didn't water it... That day I almost cried... They are SO expensive these seeds...

I would give anything to be able to visit such a beautiful country....

Here you go - Rhopaloblaste augusta in our garden in Hawaii - planted from 5 gal in Fall 2009:

The Verschaffeltia splendida are harder to keep happy on the dryer, west side of the Big Island, where we are:

But the Loxococcus rupicola seem to be very happy here:
