Chili peppers to control scale insects???

A fellow gardener here told me that besides just the soapy water, I can add some local hot peppers to the water. Chop the little peppers and add it to the water, let it ferment a few days, add the liquid soap and then I can just spray it on.

Has anyone heard of this or better yet tried it already?

Did it actually work?

Summers are great, 90f/32c in the day & 70f/21c at night with plentiful rain & sun

Winters are subtropical with occasional frosts and freezes. Tropical cyclones happen.

We have a few Royal palms in the warm microclimates but Coconuts freeze.

I am a Kayaker, Hiker, Bicyclist, and amateur Photographer that loves the outdoors.

In all seriousness....

I've never seen or heard of evidence that Capsaisin actually works to eradicate pests. However, any oil can act as a suffocant. So, capsaisin might as well. Let the applicator beware!

Jokes aside, I know a number of people who spray chili oil and ground up chili on caterpillars, and they croak, so they say. (The caterpillars, that is.)

Scale, though might be a lot tougher. I'd stick with neem oil.
