It gets to a point that you have to just remove them. We got a wild hair and a couple picks, an hour, and 5.7 liters later and that aching tooth was out! Water helps too...

So the next day there was another much bigger lutescens that was preventing everything. Dad was worried that it would tear up the water line, underneath it--two hours later and he was right. A little bit of copper pipe and we were feeling accomplished.

Don't say "Free Palm". Put a sign on it saying: "Rare Palm! $100". It will be gone overnight.

So what did we do with all that space from the removal of the first monster Dypsis, by the road?

Improvement?

Lovely "after" photo.

Amazingly, what seemed to be a very healthy clump of D. lutescens next to our house in Puerto Rico, just up and died sometime between October and April. I probably can't blame an errant cow for this one since no chew marks were seen. Happily we now have a prime spot to replant something else.

For once, a plant that died wasn't the most expensive and rare of the bunch.

Sounds like divine intervention! We just use a Chevy 350ci

Hmm.

If you have a fireplace, Dypsis lutescens wood burns well. Makes okay barbeque.
