That's a Fisher... Martes pennanti. Related to Weasels.

Fairly common in parts of California-found only in North America.

Yep..Dave's right.
Here's a Fisher-I was reading about the Olinguito just before trioderob posted the pic.
I remembered that a Fisher looks a lot like this newly discovered critter so I tried to add to trioderob's story. Was in the process of calling bs on myself when Dave & pogobob called me out.
Gotta be quicker on the keyboard. :bemused:

This mammal was discovered very close to our ranch in Ecuador, like just a couple miles away!

Cincinnati, Ohio USA & Mindo, Ecuador
