Do you have a "stack" of great digital palm  photos you took?  Now how do you display then?

I was looking at a digital photo album at Sam's Club.  It was only 6" diagonal and cost $129.

I bought one one day, and returned it the next w/o using it.  I came up  w/a better idea.

I had an old computer laying around w/Windows XP on it an a spare 13" monitor.

Bingo, I loaded my best photos to it and set it up in the living room.  Using Windows Picture and Fax Viewer I now have a slide show of my faviorate palms running.   Much better than a 6" screen.

And as soon as tax season is over and if I have any money left, I'll pick up either a 17" or 19" LCD.

Sounds like bliss Steve.  Rotating images of beautiful palm trees.  Can you imagine how peaceful the world would be if photos of palms surrounded us in our workplace and home  :P

It is a great idea Steve, and sometimes the only quick way to show off digital photos. I have a few extra monitors, including a 19" one that doubles as a portable display sometimes. I wish it was a flatscreen one, but alas it is not. I am always looking for new ways to display photos, usually in a combination of large size vs. portability. Those digital photo albums are getting larger over time. Some shops online are advertising larger ones. A display or screen I can take to palm sales or meetings would be ideal. Something that doesn't require a full computer or laptop connected to it, but with a decent display driver for sharp photos.

Until I find something better, I will be lugging a CRT monitor around with a cardboard glarehood on it. Sometimes people want to see their photos on their TV, which is another story.

Best example I've seen of displaying digital photos, involved a DLP projector and a white screen surrounded by an antique wooden frame. The images were projected onto the screen, about 48" wide, and each photo looked as if it was a painting on the wall, changing every few minutes.

Not only palm photos.  When was the last time you looked at the pictures you took over the past few years?

This way you set up different folders and you can switch from your kid's birthday party, to your trip to see Aunt Mary, to the palms you saw on that last trip to the tropics.   :D

I copy a selection on to DVD and add my favorite backing music using a software program called Power Producer . On a recent palm excursion I put "Gone Troppo" by George Harrison amongst other songs as the backing music .

Each palm pic lasts about 8 seconds and fades slowly into the next pic. I can then send same to friends who simply play it on their dvd player.

Maybe I could send you a copy of one of my recent productions Steve. You have a dvd player with decent complimentary sound system ?

I just had to show off my other hobby...  perfect lead in too!   I too have my computer revolving pictures... this is what my screensaver looks like in the theater!  Good projector pictures require a dark room for good color reproduction... This certainly might not be the best way to display pictures while at public functions...  For now a big flat screen at a booth is the best in my opinion!

After the last wedding I did, I used that spare monitor to show them off for the people who couldn't wait for me to finish edit them. It was good, and did the job, but I wish I had a projector, it would have been much easier to show them off. It is just more fun to see your pictures, on a large scale. Eventually, I put the wedding photos onto a set of DVD's with some music.

Package is on it's way Steve. I just hope it works as formats vary. I selected USA Hawaii format but who knows. Probably take a week at least to get there. Let me know what you think. This is close to the way to go for displaying/promoting palms I feel.
