I don’t know if I’m more impressed by the palm tree, aloe being grown as a hedge, or that big cactus right against the house!!

Bismarckia are awesome. How is it handling the fruit? Is it a heavy producer?

That's a Pseudophoenix by the front window? Nice to have some slow growers, too. What is the small fan palm close to the door?

The large female Bismarck doesn't produce fruit unless I manually pollinate it. I have in the past, and have more seedlings than I know what to do with.

The smaller tree hasn't flowered yet,so don't know if M/F. No other Bismarck's around for miles.

Pseudophoenix sargentii in front window, and a potted red latania by the front door.:shaka-2:

So I went out and bought a Bismarck a couple of days ago.  It hasn’t gone in the ground yet.  Going through your timeline of growth I’m now starting to get cold feet 😂.   I was tempted to plant about 15ft away from my 6ft Mule palm since that’s the spot that might be the most showy  but now not so sure.  Also concerned about my neighbors complaining about messing up their Mountain View’s once it grows over 10ft or so.
Thanks for the pictures and timeline.  They definitely give us newbies an idea what to expect!

Thanks for sharing!

I'm in AZ as well and not sure if this is convincing me or scaring me away from planting a bizzy.  Those are massive. How do you prune the larger tree? How much do those fronds weigh?  I'm looking for a show piece in the corner of a backyard but dont want to crush the block wall or drop fronds in a neighbors yard during a windstorm.  I was thinking 10 feet off the wall is good, but now I am not so sure.

When you can't prune it anymore, hire somebody. Fronds are heavy at about 15-20 pounds per mature frond. In Arizona, they do not self trim, so won't blow off into neighbors yard; even in the 70 mph, and 90 mph windstorms we had in recent years.

I always like your posts and see g what you're doing out there. I spy some of your Caribbean species back there looking great. Maybe we can get an update on those soon.........

Did anyone notice a stunt in growth at any size? I have one that went ham after planting but already had some girth. The other was out of a much smaller container and much slower rate.
